About Us  

Catholic Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn Education Limited (CECG) plays an integral role in education in the ACT and NSW, operating 56 Schools and nine Early Learning Centres (ELCs).

The Catholic Education Office (CEO) provides corporate services to the CECG system of Schools, ELCs through seven Service Areas. These Service Areas include: Education and Performance Improvement; Catholic Identity; School and Family Services; Strategy and Special Projects; Finance and Infrastructure; Information and Communication Technology; and People and Culture. 

About the Role  

The Financial Accountant supports statutory reporting and funding compliance by delivering accurate, timely financial reports. Working closely with Accounts Receivable and Payable, the role manages key month-end and year-end tasks such as reconciliations, journal postings, and ledger maintenance, while driving process improvements across the Financial Control team.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure the timely and accurate close of the month end and annual reporting periods.
  • Ensure the operating effectiveness of key financial controls and assisting in the completion of the annual external audit.
  • Identify and implement key changes and improvements across Financial Control.
  • Work with the Financial Planning & Analysis team in the production of insightful management reporting.

About the Team

The Finance and Infrastructure Service Area plays a vital role in supporting the financial health of schools, early learning centres and the CEO across the region. Working closely with Principals, Service Area leaders, and executives, the team delivers budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting that informs strategic decision-making. With a strong focus on collaboration, financial literacy, and continuous improvement, the team helps ensure resources are used effectively to support quality education.

Qualifications and Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Business and current membership of a relevant professional accounting body such as CA/CPA.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience across similar Finance roles.
  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration and Working with Children Check (WWCC).
