Catholic Education Archdiocese Canberra & Goulburn (CECG) is a leading education provider in the Canberra and southern NSW region. We have city, rural, coastal and remote schools in an area of 88,000 square kilometres from Pambula in the south to Goulburn and Crookwell in the north and west to Lake Cargelligo. The System is comprised of 29 schools and 8 early learning centres in the ACT and 27 schools in NSW. We educate approximately 21,000 students and have over 3000 staff.

Good Shepherd Primary School is known for its strong community spirit, commitment to family, and strong link with the Parish of Holy Spirit. Literacy, Numeracy, and ICT are key focus areas in our teaching, with staff active in developing our curriculum to ensure it is relevant and effective for all our students. Good Shepard Primary creates a community where each child can thrive and each family feels connected with their children's learning. At Good Shepard Primary you will have the privilege to lead 61 staff in a school with student enrolments of 764*.

We are also looking for a Principal who will actively engage with the community and grow school enrolments under their leadership.

Essential Criteria

  1. Be a practicing Catholic with a demonstrated commitment to Catholic education, and an understanding of the leadership role in Catholic education
  2. Possess an academic qualifications additional to initial teacher education (Master’s degree or five-year equivalent)
  3. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of curriculum, assessment, and student welfare issues including child protection
  4. Experience in leading inclusive teaching and learning communities
  5. Demonstrate the capacity to make data-informed decisions to inform teaching and learning
  6. Demonstrate the ability to integrate the use of information and communication technologies to both engage students in their learning and prepare them for an increasingly technological society
  7. Demonstrate experience in building teacher capacity and managing the performance of individuals and teams
  8. Demonstrate the capacity to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to improve teaching and learning
  9. Possess strong interpersonal skills and effective change agent with the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders including parents, other systemic principals, Catholic Education personnel, and external stakeholders
  10. Demonstrate the ability to meet the five leadership practices of our Leadership Framework (See Principal Leadership Framework)
  11. Be accredited, or willing to undergo accreditation, to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school.
