St John Paul II College (JPC) is a Catholic, co-educational secondary school serving families in the north of Canberra. At JPC, we strive for excellence in teaching so that our students are offered every opportunity for success in their learning. About the Role 

We are seeking a dynamic and committed person to join our community as a House Coordinator commencing in Semester One 2025.

House Coordinators lead the development of a safe and inclusive school and create an environment where all students can achieve academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead by example by setting and modelling excellent standards of teaching and working with staff to provide an optimal learning environment for students to achieve excellence.
  • Lead and support the implementation of CECG’s Catalyst Program and High Impact Teaching Practices in the school through active engagement in professional learning, professional reading, professional conversations, and support processes.
  • Oversee the academic care, student wellbeing, and behaviour management of students in the House following school and system processes.
  • Oversee the development of a dynamic wellbeing curriculum in line with national and state requirements, and whole school goals.
  • Work with staff to incorporate new developments to support student wellbeing.
  • Develop effective and appropriate relationships with and between members of the community – students, staff and parents.
  • Provide prompt and timely follow-up with parents, students and other staff on issues that emerge for each student and ensure that house staff also communicate in a timely fashion with stakeholders.

Qualifications  

  • Bachelor of Teaching or Master of Teaching. 
  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration.
  • Teaching Quality Institute (TQI) accreditation.

Selection Criteria 

  1. A comprehensive understanding of Catalyst initiatives and High Impact Teaching Practices and the need to provide appropriate support and feedback to teaching staff.
  2. Demonstrated high-level teaching skills and the passion and expertise to work individually and collectively to maximise learning outcomes for all students, including those with additional learning needs.
  3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the capacity to develop productive and caring relationships with students, parents and staff where the focus is on the learning and wellbeing of the student.
  4. Well-developed self-management skills and the personal capabilities of self-reflection, integrity, resilience and emotional maturity.
  5. Demonstrated capacity and willingness to develop students’ unique capabilities through participation in the broader life of the College.
