St Mary MacKillop College is Canberra’s largest secondary school, operating across two campuses. Years 7 to 9 are based on the Padua Campus (Wanniassa) and Years 10 to 12 are based on the St Peter’s Campus (Isabella Plains). About the Role
The Assistant Principal (Teaching and Learning) at St Mary MacKillop College is responsible for the overall leadership of the College in matters relating to student inclusion, professional development, mentoring, and professional compliance of teachers across the College. Additionally, they oversee teacher wellbeing and work closely with the Assistant Principal Academic Care on the integration of evidence-based teaching practises. The Assistant Principal Teaching and Learning will also develop creative outreach opportunities to promote teaching and learning at the College more broadly.
The role includes the leadership of the College’s Inclusive Education and Learning Commons Faculties, enabling teachers across the College to support the needs of students. The position offers leadership which is about modelling excellence in teaching and learning. It oversees the support provided to early career teachers, staff employed on a restricted permit to teach, and the supervision of teachers moving through the professional standards from proficient to highly accomplished and lead. The role also includes the strategic oversight of professional learning for all teachers across the College.

Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master of Teaching
- Teaching Quality Institute (TQI) registration
- Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration
- Postgraduate qualification in Religious Education or Theological Studies or the willingness to undertake
- Academic qualifications additional to initial teacher education (Master’s Degree or five-year equivalent)
