About the Role 
The Inclusive Education Coordinator is directly responsible to the Principal and has specific responsibility for the integration of a learning, wellbeing and academic care culture that is, in all aspects, consistent with who we say we are as a Catholic school, and which is directed towards continuous improvement and academic care of each student.

The focus is on collaborating with Curriculum and Pastoral Coordinators, and teachers, to ensure authentic teaching and learning experiences, along with pastoral supports, are the norm at Carroll College and student performance is enhanced as a result.

The Inclusive Education Coordinator role is designed to embed high quality teaching and learning through targeted leadership in wellbeing, diversity, and inclusion. The Inclusive Education Coordinator will work with the Principal, Assistant Principals and Curriculum Coordinators to support the implementation of the NSW Syllabus for the Australian Curriculum and contemporary pedagogies with a particular emphasis on explicit instruction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the Classroom Support Team and Aboriginal Education team to ensure that the educational needs of students with disabilities, students who identify as having Aboriginal heritage and students who have additional  learning and support needs;
  • Leading the National Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) Agreed Practice for personalised plans for students with disabilities;
  • Leading and coordinating psychological test materials and tools such as YARC, and Child and Adolescent PsychProfiler v5 (oriented to DSM-5) Self Assessment;
  • Overseeing MacLit and other tutoring programs to track and improve student performance;
  • Providing expert advice and support to the Executive Leadership Team in the management and resolution of complex matters relating to Learning and Wellbeing;
  • Assessing student needs and identifying intervention and implementation plans to ensure success for the students’ learning and engagement;
  • Working with the Assistant Principal, Innovation, Curriculum and Achievement to ensure the establishment and implementation of agreed practices in regard to pedagogy, learning environment, the use of technology and assessment and reporting;
  • Working with the Assistant Principals and Pastoral Care Coordinators to ensure an integrated approach to  student learning and wellbeing;
  • Ensuring familiarity with NESA requirements for implementation, programming, and assessing of the Australian Curriculum and other Board courses and supporting Curriculum Coordinators and Teachers to maintain compliance;
  • Ensuring NCCD compliance;
  • Ensuring applications for Disability Provisions for eligible students in their HSC year are prepared and processed in a timely and efficient manner.

Qualifications

  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) and/or Working with Children’s Check (WWCC) registrations.
  • Teaching Quality Institute (TQI) registration and/or NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) accreditation.
  • Minimum four-year teaching qualification with relevant teaching experience.
  • Formal qualifications in Inclusive Education are preferable for this position.

  5. A strong understanding of contemporary approaches to student learning and effective pedagogical practices;
  6. The capacity to lead a team of people and to bring about effective change;
  7. A high level of organisational and communication skills;
  8. Appropriate qualifications and a commitment to engage in relevant ongoing Professional learning.
