Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and model high impact teaching practices across all learning areas in Physical Education to progress student engagement and achievement.
  • Utilise research and evidence to lead best practice in curriculum, teaching and learning in Physical Education.
  • Assist in the implementation of legislative and CECG policy and practice to ensure the College meets its compliance obligations with respect to student wellbeing.  
  • Support the Assistant Principal Student Wellbeing to review, develop and monitor programs, practices, calendars, protocols, reporting and record keeping processes to ensure compliance with College Agreed Practices in the Year group for which they have responsibility.
  • With the support of the Assistant Principal Student Wellbeing manage day to day student behavioural issues.
  • Lead the formation and capacity development of the of the Pastoral team.
  • Assist the Assistant Principal Student Wellbeing and Executive develop staff Professional Learning.
  • Develop and assist with the development of College events, initiatives and programmes in consultation with the Assistant Principal Student Wellbeing and Principal.
  • Collaborate in the management of students at risk, including the preparation of documentation and communication to teachers, coordinators, families and students.
  • Ensure that the Assistant Principal Student Wellbeing is kept informed about significant issues relating to students’ academic wellbeing and progress.

Qualifications  

  • Bachelor of Teaching or Master of Teaching.
  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration.
  • Teaching Quality Institute (TQI) registration.

Selection Criteria 

  1. Extensive teacher experience and demonstrated leadership experience in Physical Education;
  2. Highly sophisticated written and verbal communication skills for a range of audiences;
  3. Excellent knowledge and understanding of professional practice in education, relevant legislation, initiatives, and current research in education;
  4. Demonstrated experience in implementing policy and strategic directions to improve student learning and wellbeing;
  5. Demonstrated knowledge and effective application of contemporary evidence-based practices in education;
  6. The ability to form productive partnerships and constructive relationships with staff, students, families and College partners; and
  7. The ability to prioritise tasks and the capacity to work on multiple, competing priorities.
