About St Thomas Aquinas Primary School

St Thomas Aquinas Primary School is a vibrant and supportive community educating students from the ELC through to Year 6 in West Belconnen. Our energetic and collaborative staff incorporate evidence-based high impact teaching practices and enjoy working together to provide a nourishing learning environment for all. Our school has two classes at each year level from Kindergarten to Year 6. We share a close bond with our newly amalgamated parish of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, West Belconnen.

About the Role   

The Classroom Support Assistant is part of our dynamic Diverse Learning Team. This team provides support to students in the classroom, in small groups or individually. They support the full engagement and participation of students in the life and learning of the school. With training, they also provide evidence-based intervention programs to support literacy and numeracy development. The Classroom Support Assistants are supported by our experienced and enthusiastic Classroom Support Teachers. These part-time roles have negotiable hours, up to 60 hours per fortnight. Qualifications and Eligibility

  • ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) clearance. 
  • Certificate III in School-based Education Support or;
  • Undertaking an Initial Teacher Education university program of study
  • Accreditation in accordance with Work Teach and Lead in Catholic Education Canberra and Goulburn policy
