St John Paul II College (JPC) is a Catholic, co-educational secondary school serving families in the north of Canberra that strives for excellence in teaching offering students every opportunity for success in their learning. Teachers at JPC are provided structured professional learning opportunities including a focus on offering students an excellent education through the implementation of the Science of Learning as expressed through Catholic Education Canberra and Goulburn’s ‘Catalyst’ program.

About the Role    

The Mission and Ministry Coordinator is a vital member of the School Leadership Team, responsible for leading and nurturing the spiritual life of the school community. Working alongside the Principal and Religious Education Coordinator, this role provides Christ-centred leadership through faith formation, prayer, liturgy, and social justice initiatives. The Coordinator builds staff capacity to embed Catholic perspectives across learning areas, while modelling contemporary, evidence-based practices in Religious Education. As a practising Catholic, the Mission and Ministry Coordinator is a visible faith leader who fosters strong relationships with staff, students, families, and parish communities, inspiring a culture of collaboration, service, and ongoing formation.

Qualifications  

  • Bachelor of Teaching or Master of Teaching 
  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration  
  • Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) registration    

To teach and lead Religious Education in a Catholic school, you must:  

  • Be a practising Catholic, connected to a parish or other worshipping community 
  • Must be a qualified Teacher with a minimum of five years’ experience 
  • Provide a reference from a current Parish Priest; and    
  • Have completed or be due to complete Accreditation E in accordance with the Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in Catholic Education, Canberra and Goulburn Policy.
