About Us  

Catholic Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn Education Limited (CECG) operates in the ACT and NSW, supporting 56 Schools and nine Early Learning Centres (ELCs). 

The Catholic Education Office (CEO) provides corporate services to the CECG system of schools, ELCs and the CEO through several service areas including Education and Performance Improvement, Catholic Identity, School and Family Services, Strategy and Special Projects, Finance and Infrastructure, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and People and Culture. 

About the Role  

CECG is seeking to engage a new team member to manage claims, litigation, and debt recovery activities. The Claims and Debt Management Officer oversees personal injury, property, public liability, and professional indemnity matters, coordinates investigations, works with insurers and legal representatives, and supports schools and services with timely advice. The Claims and Debt Management Officer leads debt recovery processes, maintains accurate registers, prepares reports, reviews contracts, and helps strengthen risk management across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate payment arrangements and settlement agreements with debtors for approval of the Deputy Executive Director Governance and Strategy, ensuring agreements are properly documented and legally enforceable.
  • Develop guidance materials, templates, and resources to support schools and services in managing claims risks and debt recovery processes effectively.
  • Conduct initial assessment and investigation of claims, gathering information, reviewing documentation, and preparing preliminary legal analysis and recommendations.

Qualifications and Eligibility   

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a comparable role.
  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration and Working With Children Check (WWCC). These clearances must be attained prior to commencement of duty but are not required at the time of application.
  • Drivers Licence.
